When you think of fruit, you probably associate most fruits with summer. A refreshing slice of watermelon on a hot day or some cool strawberries at a picnic. Though fruits are most popular this time of year, many fruits reach their peak in the winter season. ThirdLeaf NW loves to deliver a variety of fruits to office spaces, so we’re going to shout out some of these delicious winter fruits!
Pears
Pears are packed with vitamin C, K, and B! They are also a great source of fiber which helps keep your gastrointestinal system in check. Pears with more colorful skins provide phytonutrients like flavonoids which are known to reduce inflammation by minimizing free radicals. You may recognize the Bosc pear or Bartlett pear varieties delivered in your weekly office eats!
Kiwis
Kiwis not only have a cute name, but they are also very flavorful and nutritious. Kiwis provide even more vitamin C than oranges and more potassium than bananas! That’s right, one little kiwi provides about 80% of your daily vitamin C requirement. Not only those, but kiwis are packed with vitamin E and K, too! They are also the perfect addition to a green smoothie.
Persimmons
Persimmons definitely win the award for most unique name, and luckily winter is their favorite time of year! This winter fruit is full of nutrients that are best known for heart health, aiding your digestive system, and boosting eyesight. The Asian varieties of the persimmon, such as the Fuyu, are most commonly found in the United States. Look out for these in your weekly office deliveries!
Apples
Apples are most associated with autumn leaves and a cool fall breeze, but their season carries into winter. And yes, this fruit will be your key to staying away from the doctor through the harsh winter! Apples are packed with vitamin B and antioxidants which balance your red blood cell count and keep diseases at bay. Don’t try to remove the skin, though, because this is where the majority of their fiber and flavonoid content comes from. ThirdLeaf NW always offers at least two apple varieties in office deliveries, so make sure to try them all!
