Spring has sprung, and with the warmer weather, who doesn’t love a refreshing smoothie! Smoothies are amazing because you can hide so many healthy ingredients in them, and they still taste delicious! Here are some fun smoothie recipes as spring kicks off.
The beauty of smoothies is that you can make them entirely your own. Need some extra greens? Add a handful of spinach! Want some more protein? Use yogurt or your favorite nut butter! You can even add seeds such as chia seeds or flax seeds for some extra protein and fiber. The best part is that these added nutrients don’t usually affect the taste. That’s where the fruit comes in (our favorite part)!
A classic smoothie, and probably your go-to at your local smoothie place, is strawberry and banana! Using either frozen strawberries or frozen bananas will give the smoothie that thickness without using ice which could water-down the flavor. For this smoothie, you’ll need:
- 2 cups of frozen strawberries
- 1 fresh banana
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of ice (for added thickness)
- Optional: honey for sweetness
If you’re not really a strawberry person, maybe you’d be into this blueberry smoothie! Blueberries are super rich in antioxidants and lots of other vitamins and nutrients. Measure with your heart for this one:
- Frozen blueberries
- Frozen banana
- Plain Greek yogurt
- Almond butter
- Milk of choice
- Vanilla extract and cinnamon
Finally, we can’t forget about our tropical fruits! You can substitute any fruit you’d like for this one, but we’re doing mangoes! Check out this recipe for a simple mango smoothie:
- 2 cups frozen mango chunks
- 1 fresh banana
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- ¾ cup orange juice
- Optional: honey
- 1 cup ice cubes
Of course, all of these recipes are super flexible for whatever your body needs! Feel free to even add protein powder or other nutrients to these smoothies to keep you feeling full, hydrated, and satisfied!
