This month, we are all about wellness and nutrition! Not only because March is National Nutrition Month, but also because we are all about wellness at ThirdLeaf NW. We want our customers to be happy and healthy even when they aren’t receiving our weekly office deliveries! Here are some simple ways you can achieve a healthier lifestyle and set new habits in March.
Whole Grains > Processed Grains
We’ve all heard whole grains are healthier than processed grains, but do you know why? Those processed grains are refined and stripped of their natural nutrients in the process. Whole grains, on the other hand, still contain the bran, germ, and endosperm which each contain valuable nutrients for the body. Some simple examples of whole grains that you may already be eating or could add to your diet include brown rice, quinoa, oats, and wild rice!
Choose Healthier Snacks
We’re not saying your snack choices are unhealthy, but there is always room to improve! We provide lots of healthy snack options that are not fruit in our weekly deliveries such as granola bars, yogurt, nuts, and dried fruit. But yes, the fruit is also a great healthy snack choice!
Switch up Your Source of Protein
Protein is essential for a healthy body and lifestyle, so it’s valuable to eat a variety of protein to provide your body with all sorts of nutrients. Meat is great, but there are many other options for sources of protein such as fish, tofu, or beans. These can all help reduce hunger levels and cravings while increasing muscle mass and supporting bone health.
